“It’s a funny thing about life. If you refuse to accept anything but the best, you very often get it.” – W. Somerset Maugham
Ordering from the Cosmic Cafe [or from the catalogue of the Universe, if you prefer] could be as straightforward as ordering from Amazon.
Except for the fact that most of us were programmed with limiting beliefs about ourselves and about how life works. We were taught that we can’t really have what we want. We were told there’s a limited pie, that lack and limitation are a fact of life. Many of us were led to believe we’re not good enough or worthy enough.
As little ones, we knew better. We did know better – until all the No’s took their toll and we began to believe in Can’t.
One weekend, I was taking care of a friend’s five-year old, who was crazy about my waffles. As he polished off the second waffle and asked for another, I said, “Forest, that’s too much.” He replied with certainty, “I want too much!”
I loved his response. He didn’t care how I labeled it. He had absolute clarity about his desire for another waffle. I laughed and, of course, made him another one.
Can you imagine asking for what you want with positive expectation as easily as Forest did?
If you’ve been doing without, hesitant to order what you truly desire because you believe you can’t have it or don’t deserve it or probably won’t get it anyway, it might be time to take a look at your ordering skills.
Examples of ineffective ordering:
*You tell the waiter – I want this, but I don’t believe I can have it.
*You start to order what your heart desires, then stop yourself, thinking – Oh, no, I could never have that. That’s for other people, not for me.
*You summon up the courage to order exactly what you want and immediately start worrying – Where is it? Where is it? Where is it? I knew they wouldn’t bring it to me.
The Cosmic Cafe does not judge the quality of your order. It does not decide if you’re asking for too much or if it’s good for you or if you deserve it. The Cosmic Cafe simply responds, “Coming right up!”
I suggest *sincerely and from your heart* asking yourself these two questions:
*What do I want?
*Will I allow myself to have it?
