I am a planner. Planning works well to keep me organized and on top of what I want or need to do on a daily basis. And it was a positive asset back in the day when I worked as a Project Manager for an environmental company.
Like everything, though, there’s a downside. I can be an expert at planning for something I don’t want. Yikes! This is not a good use of my manifesting powers.
Whether you think of yourself as a planner or not, the truth is you’re always planning. When you focus on anything – wanted or unwanted – you’re planning for it with your attention and imagination.
Just recently I caught myself trying to figure out the best way to maneuver through an experience I don’t even want. Oh vey!
Have you done this – started imagining the very thing you don’t want to happen?
If so, what to do? The first crucial step is awareness – realizing when you’re mentally rehearsing the nightmare rather than the dream.
This realization prompts the always relevant question – “Okay, what DO I want?”
The next step then is to remind yourself to focus on what you actually want to experience.
The steps:
*Become aware of what you’re focusing on.
*Decide if this is what you really want to manifest.
*If not, ask yourself, “Okay, what DO I want?
*Re-focus on what you prefer.
It’s “wax on, wax off” [The Karate Kid]. Persisting through the above steps, as mundane as they may seem, is the most valuable work of retraining the brain to more easily and efficiently plan for and design your ideal life.
It’s not always easy to replace old programs that have been running for a lifetime but, as Mr. Miyagi might say – “This not just about planning. This about whole life.”
