“Call Madeleine, she can help you.” This was the first really clear guidance I ever received from my Inner Being. Even though I knew I was free to ignore it, I also knew it came from a place I could trust with my life.
My best friend, Madeleine, had been practicing Buddhism for about six months at the time and was turning her life around. For one thing, her once manic personality was now peaceful. What? For another thing, this previously starving artist was now selling her paintings for $1,000 or more. Huh? But still, I had no interest in Buddhism for myself. Fine for her, but you know . . .
Until that message from my Inner Being.
Even though I hadn’t been asking in words for help from the Universe, I was most certainly asking. I was asking with my entire being, with every cell in my body. When the message came, I knew to follow it.
As I meditated, I started to get it that I have a Universal Partner – that I’m not in this alone; that I don’t have to do everything all by myself. When I rely on my own power alone, life is unnecessarily difficult. When I connect with my non-physical partner and tap into the infinite power within, life is fun and delicious.
Inner guidance, or intuition, is the navigation system, the GPS we were born with. It’s standard equipment, included at no additional charge.
Inner guidance flows to us as naturally as the air we breathe. To access our inner guidance, all we need to do is ask and listen. Ask. Listen. Receive. Easy peasy.
“We do well to listen to this Inner Voice, for it tells us of a life wonderful in its scope; of a love beyond our fondest dreams; of a freedom which the soul craves.”
– Ernest Holmes
We live in a world of “experts.” And, of course, the experts – doctors, coaches, consultants of all kinds – can provide extremely valuable support. The problem comes when we give away our power to an external authority. It’s essential to know and remember that we each have access to an internal authority with guidance, tailor-made for us. The key is to always process external guidance through our inner wisdom, by asking, “Does this FEEL right to ME?”
The answer you’re looking for is
inside you – ALWAYS!
No one else knows what’s best for us. Yes, of course, we can seek advice from experts and opinions from friends, but our best answer always comes from that still, small voice within.
Even if we’ve listened to others our entire life and never trusted our own truth, our Inner Being is always there, patiently waiting for us to tune in. We may hear our answers immediately or an insight may pop into our head while we’re in the shower or we may have a dream that provides the clarity we desire, and we KNOW: “This feels right to me. I will do this.”
There is a rich history of famous people receiving guidance in their sleep. Thomas Edison went to sleep intending to wake up with the answer to a problem; and he usually did. Salvador Dali often awakened with a brilliant idea for a painting. The periodic table of elements, still in use today, came to Dmitri Mendeleev in his sleep. An idea for a revolutionary new engraving technique came to William Blake during sleep.
“There is guidance for each of us,
and by lowly listening, we shall hear the right word.”
– Ralph Waldo Emerson
Long story short, after calling Madeleine, I practiced Buddhism for 18 years which helped me enormously. It also got me ready to jump in with both feet when the teachings of Abraham came to me in 2005.
Tuning in to that still, small voice within provides ongoing support in creating the joyful, fulfilling life we desire. Tuning in to our Inner Being aligns us with our infinite potential, our innate wisdom, our genius and our creativity. Tuning in to Guidance from the Inside Out aligns us with Who We Really Are.
