Get in your comfort zone – not out of it – and spend as much time there as possible. That’s what I say.
If twenty plus years practicing the Law of Attraction has taught me anything, it’s that feeling good is good. And comfort feels good.
The comfort-zone-is-bad folks subscribe to the flawed premise that comfort will make us lazy and we’ll turn into three-toed sloths.
In my experience, feeling good actually makes it easier to be productive.
The comfort-zone-is-bad crowd preach taking massive action – whether we feel like it or not.
When I take action that I don’t feel like taking, it’s a rough slog. Oh, I may get there, but it takes longer and requires tremendous effort which results in stress and – to me – is generally not worth it.
The real comfort zone – alignment – is not something to force ourselves out of. It’s a great place to hang out while at the same time being open to the opportunities for growth and expansion that life inspires in us.
Another reason we don’t need to force ourselves out of our comfort zone is because it’s already a perfect system. Life calls us to expand and – as extra encouragement – gives us contrast to inspire that expansion.
All we need to do is respond to the desire that contrast brings and we’ll grow and expand naturally.
For example:
*Her husband was having an affair which inspired her to summon up enough self-love and self-respect to give him an ultimatum and stand by it.
*She developed a painful physical condition and was inspired to strengthen the power of her mind to heal her body.
*After being laid off from his boring job, he was inspired to finally commit to starting a business that lights a fire in his belly.
So yes – I’m a big fan of the comfort zone. Because comfort feels good. And, when we feel good, we’re a match to our desires.
Which means the comfort zone must be the path to dreams come true.
