One day last week I woke up at 3:00 a.m. feeling a-w-f-u-l. Painful chest congestion. Throat so sore and swollen it was agony to swallow.
My brain, always eager to weigh in, offered dire “Oh no . . .” thoughts and scary “What if . . .” thoughts. I did my best to turn down the brain chatter and shift to “Nah, getting sick is actually not convenient for me.”
Next I went to the buffet. The what? Abraham likens the Universe to an infinite buffet with everything wanted and everything unwanted available at all times.
It’s a metaphor for the quantum field, a realm where all potential realities exist simultaneously. And, like the buffet, we’re free to choose what we want.
So I chose. For the next two hours before I fell back to sleep, I focused on “I choose perfect health.” Over and over. “I get to choose and I choose perfect health.”
Because perfect health is an item on the buffet that I can choose.
When I woke up again around 7:00, I was greatly improved. I happily got on with my day while continuing my mantra, “I choose perfect health.”
Over the next few days as the symptoms offered to return, I refocused on “I choose perfect health” until they gave up.
Giddy with power! That’s how I’ve described that feeling ever since I first learned I have the power to create my own reality.
It’s easy to forget or to deny or to doubt that we have the power to create our life the way we want it to be. But it is so fun to choose and claim and grab what we like rather than default to things we don’t like.
Another giddy-with-power story. My sweet Cockapoo, Charley. When I adopted her 18 months ago, she had chronic ear infections. I tried improving her diet. I tried various concoctions and cleansers. I took her to the vet for steroids, which worked . . . for a while.
I finally realized nothing would clear up her ears as long as I was choosing to see her as having chronic ear infections. Aha!
So I went back to an ear solution I had used before that had not worked. I realize now it couldn’t work as long as I was continuing to choose chronic ear infections. So I focused on “This time it works!” over and over until it felt true. Then it had no choice but to work.
It’s all about choosing what we want to experience.
It’s good to know we have the power to create our own reality. It’s good to know everything we desire is available to us and it’s good to know we have the power to choose what we like.
But the real magic happens when we actually decide to claim it. Then we’re living as the Conscious Creators we truly are.
