Do you make resolutions or intentions for each new year?
Even if you don’t, I encourage you to make this one: Resolve to BE HAPPY!
You may be going through challenging times and you may feel lightyears away from happiness, but remember happiness is your natural state. Because it’s your natural state, it’s always available.
Q: Why just one resolution? I have other needs and desires.
A: You may have desires for improved finances, relationships, or for your physical body. But, here’s the thing – when you’re happy, you’re a vibrational match to all things you consider to be good and they flow easily into your experience.
It’s about being happy first as opposed to the more popular “I’ll be happy when I have the money / lover / fit, healthy body.”
Q: Okay, but there are very difficult people in my life who make me miserable.
A: Really? They make you miserable? I don’t think so. No matter how unpleasant they may be, they do not have the power to steal your joy. Your joy is your most precious treasure and it’s worth protecting. If you decide to be happy, no one can stop you without your consent.
Choosing to be happy regardless of difficult others or unwanted circumstances – that’s life mastery!
Q: Fine, but how can I be happy when other people are suffering?
A: Can you accept that being happy is the best thing you can do for yourself, for other people, and for our world? When you choose happiness, you become a bright light that naturally uplifts others.
Well into my twenties, I saw myself as the least likely person to become happy. Fortunately, that still small voice inside me insisted it was possible – even for me – to be happy. With that inner guidance, intense desire, and willingness to keep seeking, it ultimately became my reality.
That’s why I know happiness is a choice. Some days it’s a moment-to-moment choice but it’s always a choice. And it’s not dependent on external conditions. In fact, it’s just the opposite. When you choose a happy state on the inside, you naturally create happy conditions on the outside.
The trick with resolutions is to make them fresh every day – not just at the optimistic, clean slate, I-haven’t-done-anything-stupid-yet beginning of the year.
So please resolve, decide, intend, choose, and make up your mind to be as happy as you can in every moment. It truly is the only resolution you need!
